As the Solstice sun made its appearance this morning over the horizon, I stepped outside my door to greet it. Must be the Celtic and Norse heritage that calls for an acknowledgement of this special time of the year. It was a magical moment, soon dimmed by the din of traffic and the harsh voices of coworkers dissing a retiring supervisor. But for just those few incredible breaths, it was a time of renewal and joy.

My eyeballs are burning--or maybe that's just my allergies kicking into gear with the advent of the hot weather. The calendar says the first day of summer and the gods of weather said, ok, here it is: heat and pollen. Achoo!
