Got to Work Safely

Got to work safely, through no virtue of my own. Don't know what was wrong with me, but my mind seems to have been distracted by heaven only knows what.

I found myself speeding in a notorious place for a speed trap (it has intersection cameras for running a red light, too).

I did nearly run a red light--with the streets completely empty at the early morning hour, I guess it seemed like the thing to do.

Then I made a left turn at a major intersection, startling a pedestrian who had decided to make a last-minute decision to cross the street, but was still with the light. Startled me, too.

Speeding at 35 mph through a construction zone was rewarded by a major thump on the tires as it switched from graded to paved. If I'd been doing the legal 25, I'd hardly have felt it.

By the time I got to work I was fully awake and had figured out that I was distracted by my neighbor's antics at 3 a.m. B asked him very nicely to be quiet and close his window and he did--but by that time I was wide awake and had trouble going back to sleep.

Going to work short on sleep. Not a good idea.
