One of my coworkers retired recently. Her last day at work was Friday. Last Friday.

She and her partner had bought property in Las Vegas and during the last couple of months had moved all of their stuff there, except for everyday necessities. They were staying with friends until they could leave town permanently.

We learned this morning that she had a stroke over the weekend and is hospitalized.

We're all in a state of shock. She worked all her life, right up to Friday, was an outstanding employee with perfect attendance. She took very good care of her health, eating properly, exercising, getting enough sleep.

Two days after retirement and who knows if she will ever be able to enjoy it.
