It's been windy and dry, dry, dry. The humidity peaked at 10% and I wouldn't be surprised if it were less than that by now. Dry noses, chapped lips, static electric cat.

I was very, very young when I remember the part about the car being cranked. I think I had just a toddler. My father was cranking the old car we had (at the end of the war, consumer goods were scarce and dear). Anyway, I remember my father's sharp tone as he told me it was dangerous to come close to watch (of course, I was curious about everything) and to go over there. Maybe it was his tone of voice that fixed the image in my memory.

Regarding surgery, I feel pretty good, and I would have to be a lot worse off before I'd consider surgery. I'd much rather not go through the debilitating process of surgery and recovery and lifelong dependence on drugs.

I'd like to know from Eric if his father had a mechanical heart valve or one from a pig. I've heard pros and cons about both. I think a big part of the decision is to have it done while one is in good health.

Time to take the laundry out of the dryer; fold, sort, and put away. Later!

P.S. Woo-hoo! My renter finally paid me a month's rent. The timing (just before the holidays) couldn't be better!
