Cold

It's still in the 40's and a bitter wind makes it worse, belied by a bright sun in a cloudless sky. I feel as cold as anybody else, but the cold doesn't make me frantic crazy, the way the intense heat of the late summer does.

Still and however, baby, it's cold outside. I finally broke down and dug out my one ski sweater. You know--the one that makes me perspire and turn red in the face just folding it to put it away during September's furnace. That one.

Coming on to 10 a.m. and the house is still cold. At night I turn the furnace down to 50, because I like it to be cool at night for sleeping. It has been running most of the morning and still hasn't been able to get the house warmer than 60, if that.

Right now this sweater feels so good; I may never take it off. At least not all day today, that's for sure.

Callie has found the center of the down comforter for snoozing.
