For the following reasons, this was a great day:

- I moved the first things into my new apartment. I did laundry, took a shower, and watched a tugboat go by in the dark. I set up my bed (air mattress for now), beheld the brand new microwave, and rejoiced that my cell phone works in one small patch of my kitchen. I didn't break any FiestaWare in the move.

- Glen (my friend serving in Iraq) sent me a housewarming gift: White fuzzy slippers. These are not any white fuzzy slippers. They are Monty Python Killer Bunny white fuzzy slippers. He said he saw them online and it took all of 2 seconds to get out his debit card and buy them for me.

- I got the schedules for all of my students' parent conferences from the general ed teachers.

- I feel better. I've had round three, WW III, of sinus infection, and today for the first time in a week, I feel like I can breathe. Of course, I'm exhausted all the time, but it's definitely getting better. I will not miss the nasal washes with decoction of oregon grape leaves. That's nasty.

- It's humid and my hair stayed curly.

- I had fish tacos for dinner. Not euphemistically; real tacos with fish in them. I love those. Oh, and I had lemon - ginger - echinacea juice. That's kickass stuff.

- I learned more about special ed procedure from our other school's psychologist. Fascinating and liberating to know the law.

- I stopped and listened to what was around me. I tolerated two hours of silence.
