I sit at my desk and picture it. My getaway car. It's not always a car, and I don't necessarily go far, but man, it's sweet relief.

Today's getaway car is the red convertible from the movie Threesome. I'm driving in the sun, top down, sunglasses on, polka-dot scarf on my head, '50's style. "I'll Take You There" is on the stereo and the landscape rolls by, parched, rolling, rust-brown, then green, sweet and mossy. I'm not sure anyone has come with me today, but no matter.

All sounds of children, all worries of administrative commentary, all pressures to perform are gone as I cruise the Oregon Coast, anticipating a lovely dinner at the Wayfarer in Cannon Beach.

I'll take you there.
