Another Island Moment

When I moved to Port-au-Patios, I realized that my Verizon coverage was slim to none, despite Verizon's promise that I'd get great coverage.

I limped along for 4 or 5 months, and then gave up and switched to AT&T. They could show me on the computer exactly where the coverage zones were, and in fact I get better coverage than they said I would get. Huzzah.

This left me with a perfectly good LG cell phone with the full meal deal: charger, car charger, Jabra bluetooth device, and the owner's manuals for everything. Yeah, it would have been nice to get back the $30 (was it $60?) bucks I shelled out for the bluetooth, but karma just said I should release the whole shebang back to the Universe.

I put the cell phone on Freecycle. If you don't know what Freecycle is, please find out! It's a great way to get free stuff and get rid of stuff you aren't using. The point is to keep stuff out of landfills, and also to make people happy. It does both admirably.

Within an hour or so, a young man called me and I told him how to get to my house. He showed up in a half hour, bearing a vase full of dahlias from his garden, and he left delighted.

This island is my anthem.
