...Brazilian wax. It sounds sexy. It sounds interesting. There are visions evoked of thin, smooth people, enjoying a variety of skin-related pleasures under a tropical sun.

I'm here at WaxOn Spa in Seattle's Belltown, waiting for Connie to rip out my pubes. For this, I am shelling out $70 plus tip.

The spa is kind enough to supply liquid courage in the form of an unlabeled bottle of tequila. I forgot to take ibuprofen or xanax, both in my pre-waxing plan, so I took the courage.

It's not courage I lack. I'm here, right? I'm just apprehensive because I've never done this before. I told the receptionist that I have done a full leg wax several times, and she assured me that this was quicker, and not too much more "uncomfortable". They don't use the word "painful" here.

There are dozens of cute little underpants hanging on the wall. I think I'll need to buy a pair to celebrate this first of firsts.
