Five questions, with five answers each. Gank whatever you want, and respond if you'd like.

1. Name five books you think you should read that you haven't read yet.

a. Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand. Because Bernie tells me I need to read it.

b. Shampoo Planet, Douglas Coupland. It takes place in Eastern Washington

c. Anything canonical and 19th century, because I just haven't.

d. Grey's Anatomy. What an amazing resource.

e. GarageBand for Dummies. So I can finally record some of my musical meanderings.

2. Five people can come to dinner, any five people, living or dead. Who do you invite and why?

a. Jesus, because I want to really know what he did between 12 and 33

b. Jesus' childhood pal, Biff (see Lamb, by Christopher Moore, if you want the backstory on Biff), because Biff will tell me more than Jesus will. Jesus is notoriously self-deprecating.

c. Ruth Gordon, of Harold and Maude fame, because I just know we could hang.

d. Margaret Sanger, women's rights activist and founder of Planned Parenthood, to discuss enfranchisement of women through reproductive
choice

e. William Petersen, for the eye candy and likely some very intelligent conversation

3. Who were five influential people in your life so far, and why?

a. Ms. Ekar, my eighth-grade humanities teacher. She sparked my lifelong interest in anthropology and archeology.

b. My parents, both for good and bad. It's tough being a parent, when no one hands you the owner's manual and you've got your own life's worth of shit to wade through. Yet wade they did. It's all good now.

c. Maurice. He taught me the love of the open road, while showing me love on the open road. He took me to the waterfall, he gave time, wisdom, and beer freely. He is an example of generosity without expecting anything in return.

d. Geri. Her gentle example in times of incredible stress make me realize how much grace there truly is in the world.

e. Dexter. In no particular order: he bought me my first vibrator, married me, grew a goatee, knows tons of sea shanties, has a cranium that has its own weather system AND is actually full of very useful knowledge.

4. Name five foods you would like to have at the same meal in order to be truly satisfied.

a. Fruit: Sliced mangoes, fresh, ripe, and sweet. Concord grapes, fresh from Hickenbottom Farms in Selah, WA, just like in the old days.

b. Fresh Dungeness crab meat with melted butter (not drawn butter - leave the milk solids in, please).

c. Something chocolate. Milk chocolate, chocolate decadence with raspberry coulis, chocolate mousse, Baskin-Robbins Chocolate Fudge ice cream, you get the idea.

d. A fine rib-eye steak, medium rare, with real grated horseradish on top, and a side of potato cakes from Jak's Grill in West Seattle

e. Really good dim sum, especially steamed shrimp dumplings in the semi-clear wrappers.

5. List five of your favorite movie or TV quotes, with attribution, if possible.

a. I looked into the eye of this island, and what I saw was beautiful. Terry O'Quinn as John Locke, LOST

b. You like espresso? I make it back there myself with a little lemon twist, it's good. Bronson Pinchot as Serge, Beverly Hills Cop

c. Alec, it's not the fat chick. Ally Sheedy as Leslie in St. Elmo's Fire

d. This is a dark fucking period!!! John C. Reilly as Dewey Cox, Walk Hard

e. There had been abuse in my family, but it was mostly musical in nature. John Michael Higgins as Terry Bohner in A Mighty WInd
