On Friday I worked 5 hours in the yard at our office clearing out these very evil thorny vines called Smilax. If you google this stuff it will show a link that says they can be grown on a trellis and cut for evergreens. Bull. They had grown up and over azaleas, up and over a small oak tree and gotten halfway up a very old cedar. I admire their tenacity, but it was time for them to go.

Besides, lovely son had suggested something inappropriate to me in a fit of rage and he was working off his punishment by helping me.

Our office is on a relatively busy 3 lane highway and I know that patients and friends saw us out there working. One patient actually stopped and asked me why I was doing this myself instead of paying someone to do it. "After all, you are a doctor", with the implication that I can afford to pay someone to do anything. (Not)

By the time son and I finished the work for the day, we had two huge piles of plant debris. By huge I mean 6x8x4 feet. I just didn't have the energy to drag that stuff back into our woods behind the office and was planning to go back today and do that.

But yesterday someone at the horse show cut her leg so husband and I went up to the office to sew her up.

The debris was gone.

I have no idea who picked up this stuff, but I do know that it would have taken at least 30 minutes and it would have been a thorny job. (pun intended)

So, to whoever cleaned up the mess from the yard work: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
