Just when we thought we had it figured out...

Bob's mother calls... "Are you sure you want to move to Tulsa, OK? It has the 5th highest crime rate in the nation."

Now, while I appreciate her concern... it has sent Bob and I into quite a researching tizzy. Which is a good if exhausting thing. I know, its better to do this now and not on the way to OK with the kids and stuff packed.

So we picked 5 states we'd consider moving to: OK, WY, MO, TX, and CO. OK and TX being, honestly, the last on the list. After a bunch of (kinda fun) research, it looks like WY and MO are the top two. But this is just taking into account cold data and not weighting the factors that mean most to us. It will be several nights more of digesting data before we chose (again).

What really helped was a guide I found "The Most Livable States... a statistical view of the 50 states" by Morgan Quinto, 16th edition. It was a $5 download so I figured what the heck. They have another guide "The Most Dangerous/Safe Cities" that I downloaded also. They had several more... like "The Smartest State" which was available online somewhere else.

Family will be upset if we don't move to OK afterall. We still may but if we don't...

I'll be a bit sad too. Which is funny... after so many years of wanting to be as far from family (sister excepted) as possible, why am I so eager to be closer to them now?

Regardless of where we land, at least we'll have made a decision based on LOTS of information and not just "because it was an easy choice."
