Project Day

Friday was my usual off day, so (as usual) I had lots planned. Projects mostly that need doing or finishing.

Top on the list was felted wool inserts for my event shoes. I felted some undeyed, off-white, Leicester wool roving. I love the stuff, its so soft! White isn't the best color for inserts though, so I dyed them... red... with... Koolaid. Yes, that powdered drink mix you guzzled so much of as a kid makes a magnificent dye for protein fibers. Kinda makes me wonder what it did to my insides...

They came out nicely. Even made them with arch-support padding. LOL! That part was needle felted on. Wore them around a bit and it is an improvement over the shoes alone. The left arch support needs a bit more needle felting but other than that they held up well. I imagine that as thin spots appear, I can just needle felt more wool on it.

Next on the list was a pillow cover and blanket for Jessie. I found this dragon print flanel on eBay and she (thankfully) loves it. Kept carring around the yardage and calling it a blanket... so I figured I'd better make one from it. I still have enough left for PJs or something.

Last but not least, I had a couple Pokemon pillow panels for Sam's pillow. He used it at a sleepover the next day and seems to like it.

Today, I came home early from work because they are recarpeting and made jessie some slippers from the dragon fabric. I'm happy to report she wore them all evening and refers to them as her "dragon shoes." She seems to be a born shoe fanatic.

Oh! Almost forgot. Friday after dying the insoles, I dyed about 3oz of roving (with more Koolaid) and have already spun it up. Just need to ply it and set the twist. No idea what I'm going to do with it. Maybe save it as a Christmas present for my mom since she loves to crochet.

And one last project from Friday... I made a felt flag with the Caid crescents for the center top flag of Jessie's popup castle. The other two flag poles will hold a white flag with the darach acorn on it. LOL! Way too cute!

I have pictures of all these finished projects. I'll see if I can't get it uploaded and linked later. I also want to start a page of projects that I want to do or ones that I have started and need to finish. Maybe it will keep me on top of them. ; )

Sorry for the disjointed entry. Too many projects running 'round my brain tonight.
