Still using the laptop. And because I am, my computer will no doubt return quickly.

Last night was a doozy, temperature-wise. And my furnace is burning dinosaur farts like mad.

Sleeping has been very cozy--the giant cat really likes to share body heat.

The last time I was online was quite frustrating--I'd switched mice with the table-top computer and it (laptop) didn't like it. Luckily, WalMart had a mouse for $10.

(Did you know that having a bandaid on the middle finger really messes up typing ability? Use the bandaged finger and it will usually hit two keys.)

And the temporal dicombobulation continues. I keep thinking it's Friday today.

I just noticed that my computer says "network cable unplugged." Strange--I'm online. On the other hand, the next icon says I'm definitely online.

The last time I posted from the laptop YD said it got filed in JS 2003.

Between the different slant of the keyboard, not to mention the fact that the laptop is on my lap, I am coming up with more than the usual number of typos. (And there is a bandage on a finger.)

I went to Walgreen's this morning for stuff and ended up chatting with someone who does pet grooming. She acknowledged that cats seldom need grooming, but was telling me about grooming (gratis) shelter animals for adoption days. So we chatted a bit about shelter animals.

A smile in passing can lead to interesting conversations. And I also support the shelter.

At the rate things are going I probably won't be back at work till next week. I don't think that anyone would argue that being at home for a refurbished computer is definitely high priority!

And--today being January 6--the Phorty Phunny Phellows will be "parading" down the street car route--on the street car--to "officially" set off Carnival. I'm not sure when the street parades begin, but it's soon.)

And New Orleans is full of campaigning for the mayoral race. One of the last entrants into the fray was the current lieutenant governor. I've lived here so long that the negative compaigning is par for the course. And I guess the stronger the perceived threat, the more personal things become.

One of the many negative ads says that this person has run for office 11 times. He ran for mayor before, but he also ran for--and was elected--lieutenant governor. His father was mayor for two terms, and one of his sisters is a US senator. (I think he's one of nine kids.)

Politics here is NOT dull. (How appropriate that the election is mixed in with Carnival.)

The last time the Saints had a playoff game at home I made myself a gold ribless corduroy blazer. It will be on me again on the 16th.
