Today I had three people come by and got a phone call from a guy in Montana that I met via the Kenya caper.

For the first time in at least twenty years I received a pastoral visit from a minister. That makes me feel really a part of the congregation/church family. In honor of his visit I managed to use the hand vac to get the worst of the crumbs from the furniture in the den and otherwise tidy up a bit.

Shortly after he left I got the phone call. I filled the guy in on my "adventures" after the fall, including my circuitous return trip, which included a two-engine plane and a "detour" through Tanzania. I also told him that the third world hospital I was at had the US hospital beat hands down when it came to nursing care. He told me about his post-Earthwatch travels in Africa.

The other visitors today were expected--my pet-sitter and then a PT person. I feel like I'm making really good progress. I can do everything the PT asks me to. And the next time a PT comes I'll be doing the hard parts easily. It won't be long before I'm checking out ability to operate the clutch.

I also called the newspaper to ask if I would be getting delivery any time soon. They took down the information and I'm crossing fingers. Late this afternoon I got a call from the paper asking if I wanted to subscribe. I told the telemarketer that I had just been in contact with the paper.

We all need to be in contact with other people. For me, that's one of the biggest losses brought about by lack of a job. I'm working on a couple of useful alternatives, but at this point everything has to wait till after the holidays.

(This is a really disjointed entry!)
