I figure it will be more than a week till I have Mary organized. Today I (think I) finally got all the material related to her first run for Treasurer in the same box. Next step will be her actions on becoming Treasurer. This part involves financial maneuvering and (seemingly) endless newspaper articles from all over the state. (The press agent utilizes a clipping service.)

The lobby in our building has been rearranged for the party tomorrow evening. I'm betting there will be all sorts of food and goodies. The catering section of Tulane's food services can really put on a spread. Unfortunately, it's probably a bit early for one of their fantastically carved watermelons. Those are truly works of art. I don't want to think about how long it takes to create one.

(Sudden thought--it would make sense to take my camera tomorrow!)

The semester is winding down rapidly. My former Xavier colleague--who is currently also a visiting scholar at NCCROW--was there this morning. That tells me Xavier is having exams. And very few of our student workers showed up today. Guess Tulane is also into exams. This semester has gone by quickly.

I don't think I mentioned that last Friday afternoon the traffic coming off the old bridge was slowed down considerably by a growing crowd of people. No, not an accident. Another modular home was being hoisted up onto pilings. I suspect (now) that the one that says "Open House" is a model. Let people see it for themselves, and it will sell itself.

And--my mail today had a postcard from the sheriff's office. It was a notification that a registered sex offender is now living in the neighborhood. He's 55, short and very fat, African-American, and has gray hair. He lives on the other side of the street, about half a block up the road.

I realized the other day that this neighborhood no longer has any little children. Or medium-sized either, for that matter. The majority of the residents near me have been here more than twenty years. And the few new houses seem to be purchased by childless (not newlywed) couples. What a contrast to twenty to twentyfive years ago!

Enough blithering--I've got important stuff to do on the computer. I am becoming addicted to the Yahoo game "Flip Words." I haven't bought the downloadable version, so I am limited to playing it only once a day.

And now it's about time!
