OD turns another year older today. Actually, that happened at 0310, give or take an hour. (I can't remember whether Wyoming--on MT--did the DST thing back then.)

One of the little gifts that came from the newspaper announcement was a spoon with the date and time of birth on it. And the company hubby worked for sent a pair of baby shoes with her name on one shoe and the DOB on the other. (I think that was it--maybe it was her middle name.)

Cheyenne had a population of less the 40,000 then, so even though it was the state capital and the 2nd largest city in the state (Casper was first) it was still a small town. That winter I bought her the only snowsuit she ever had. The next summer we moved to Texas, and although Abilene had one snowfall that winter, it was not a big deal. After Abilene, it was California, Louisiana, Florida, and back to Louisiana in 1976. I have never felt that I missed an essential part of motherhood by not having to cope with soggy mittens.

And it is good to talk about winter. It was upper 90s today. The weather forecast optimistically includes the possibility of thunderstorms, but for the next four months that will be in almost every forecast.

I put a fresh bag of cat food in the ice chest after pouring a bunch of it into the (late) dogs' dry food tray. We'll see if that's enough to satisfy nighttime visitors. Probably not.

This coming week I'll be working MWF, due to assorted appointments. I think I prefer the three days in a row, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Gas was "only" $2.809/gal. this morning at Sam's.
