Today I ran out of excuses--things like it's hot, humid, back aches, knees hurt, etc. etc. & so forth. All the tricks of procrastination.

I got out, put on the heavy gardening gloves, and headed out to the trimmings repository. I dumped a very full barrel, then made the mistake of pulling "just a few" growths near the sidewalk. And, the dewberry vines that roam all over. I didn't get everything done out there, or even nearly everything. But I filled up my wheeled trash barrel.

There's a cedar log--evened off to make a seat--about halfway between the pool and the garage, and I sat there and weeded. And weeded. And discovered I'd gotten near some fire ants and what appeared to be baby ticks. It's not the season for those, but maybe the warmer climate has changed the tick mating habits or whatever.

That ended the weeding and the barrel was now very full. I sprayed the usual stuff all over my feet and legs and ankles, and then set to work removing all the stickery seeds. I prefer not to be an agent for weed seed-spreading.

So, now I am spotlessly clean, with all the itchy places thoroughly scrubbed. My hair is wet. In about half an hour it will be dry enough for me to go out, and I shall head for PJ's and some work on revising the syllabus for my class.
