Picshur is rong--cat shud be yellow

(and fatter)

Well, after a really bad morning stormwise, the afternoon ended up gorgeous.

The rain ended in time that the Jazz Fest went on as planned. So there was mud to wade through--so what. And tomorrow should be equally gorgeous for the last day of Jazz Fest.

Shortly after the rain ended and the sun came out, I got a call from a woman responding to my response to her "seek" on Freecycle. She was after plants. I offerred wild cherry and what ever else.

She came out, admired the wild cherry trees, and dug up a bunch of little ones for herself. Then she trimmed back some of the Red Tip (a ligustrum) after I showed her the tree that had grown from a trimming. She even like the stuff I've been pullilng out like mad. The tree man called it cypress something (I think). It is pretty when it is delicate and fernlike. But it grows about four feet tall, then looks really really bad when it goes brown at the end of the summer.

About 4:30 I decided to go to WalMart. So did everybody else in the world. Obviously, the morning storm shifted everyone's schedules.

When I got home I had just started to take off my shoes when I realized that I'd forgotten to vote. What was being voted on today? Well, when Jindal won the gubernatorial race, his Congressional seat was vacated. We've already had a primary and a run-off on the Republican side for that. I have no idea what will happen if the two independent candidates on the ballot get enough votes that noone gets a true majority. And the poll workers wondered too. With the number of elections recently--and the fact that I've lived here 32 years--I know most of the poll workers, so there's always a bit of chit-chat when the voting is slow.

This evening I expect to read some more of the Turtledove book. And watch TV.

How's that for high excitement!
