I snapped my freshly charged battery into my weed whacker and it worked great!!

Except that the guard kept falling off.

I studied it carefully and found three tiny phillips head screws that needed to be tightened to keep the thing in place.

Back to the garage to try to find the appropriate screwdriver.

I finally did, and got the protector firmly fastened on. I hope.

This process took a while, because I think I made three round trips to the garage. Had to turn the lights on so I could almost see what I was looking at with my sunglasses on. (I wonder if I turned the lights off. The world won't end if I didn't.)

Eventually I got a fair amount of hay reaped. There's a section that looks almost like a messy lawn.

I probably lost five pounds (at least) in sweat. I of course had a bottle of water there with me and I drank most of it.

I gave up on the sun-proof blouse. I think it's breeze-proof also. I sweat like a horse with it on, so I said the heck with it--I'm more likely to die of old age than skin cancer (of which I have none.)

I probably spent at least an hour and a half out there and was more than a little beat.

A cold shower helped a lot, then I headed for Arby's and then PJ's. The AC at both places revived me.

On the bright side--that far side yard has a patch that (almost) looks like a yard. The weed-pulling I've been doing is paying off.

Animal notes:

I finished with computer stuff yesterday evening, went out the door and saw Lady curled up in the middle of the hall - - - and the little possum eating the dry cat food.

Today I found a dead little lizard in the hall. It's not in my line of travel (think of stepping on that in the dark--barefoot) but one never knows if a cat will relocate it to be sure I find it--in the middle of the night.

Remember the big bag of old seeds that I tossed out by a tree stump? Well, at least one of the seeds decided to germinate, even though it was a bit late in the season. I have a pretty little orange marigold right over the area where Fabian is buried. How appropriate--to honor an orange cat.
