I finally turned the page of my daily calendar and found the reminder "type up inventories." That refers to the inventories of the archival collection on which I've been working. At least I remembered to bring the drafts home.

Mac and I do not get along, and Tulane is a Mac kingdom. There are some PCs in the library, but they are all in use by staff people. The "public" computers are all Macs. Sometimes I type up an inventory when I am in there really early, but I didn't finish this batch until Friday afternoon.

Had the archivist not shown me a couple more collections that need work, I'd have taken my laptop in tomorrow to do it, but it's easier to do it at home.

Today has absolutely flown by. For starters, I didn't wake up till about 9 AM. This is HIGHLY unusual for me. I debated postponing the planned expedition to WalMart, but crossed fingers that there would be an electric cart, since part of their current remodeling has included new carts. I guessed right.

After getting perishables put away I read the Sunday paper, then somehow ended up napping for a couple of hours.

So much for the day. I guess my body wouldn't nap if it didn't need it.

The upcoming week is pleasantly full: work tomorrow, all-day (almost) meeting with Mobile colleague/friend on Tuesday, donate platelts on Wednesday, then work on either Thursday or Friday. Hey--I don't have to come up with as many excuses for avoiding yard work as usual!

School starts here in a week or so. It's amazing how one ignores stuff like school start dates when one has grown children! Good thing the schools are air-conditioned. I think Xavier starts August 25. Time to start crossing fingers.

Shopping often ends up being social time. Today I ran into two people I knew. One had an exchange student "daughter" who took Lifeguarding from me. The other is the mother of a former Senior Girl Scout of mine. She (the mother) was married to the oral surgeon who did my first four implants. They were divorced quite a while ago.

She was elected to the City Council as I recall. We've run into each other every several years or so.

At any rate, she caught me up on her daughter's accomplishments, which I matched with YD's book sale. She has also remarried.

And now it's time for a bit of work.
