But today I drove into New Orleans to pick up some of my junk that was still at Xavier. It was good to see the secretary again, even if it was just for a short time.

But what a traffic nightmare I had to contend with!

The lights at a major intersection weren't working, and there didn't appear to be any cops directing traffic.

However, the drivers all adopted the wait your turn mode and the traffic was moving smoothly, albeit at a dead snail's pace.

I finally found a spot to park, although it was probably illegal. No matter--I wasn't there very long.

And then I headed over to Tulane, to see how that repaving fiasco was going.

The dead traffic lights continued for several blocks and it seemed like I would never get where I was going.

I did, however. And the really nice part was that everybody involved in the traffic mess at that time was patient and polite.

I could see that the great repaving project at Tulane was indeed a glorious mess, and that there was no way I'd be able to navigate my way into the building, even if I didn't collapse from being parked half a mile or more away.

And then I headed home.

After a short sinking spell I went out to WalMart for critter food. I was just about out of raccoon biscuits, as well as possum/raccoon kibble.

I'm hoping the weekend has slightly cooler weather--and that I get off my whatever and get at some of the yard work.
