The only time Louisiana does not have elections on a Saturday (much better turnout) is when it's for national office.

My polling place is the school a mile away. Sherry started first grade there, but now it's a middle school.

There was essentially no line when I got there, but after I voted I got talking with the former Slidell Library librarian. It was a pleasant conversation.

I didn't run into anyone else I know, which is a bit unusual, but then it was raining--and a work day.

Eventually I headed back home, having done my civic duty. I let myself have a "sinking spell" and then did very little for the rest of the day. The on-again, off-again rain has a soporific effect, which is intensified by cats who do not like rain, but do like to cuddle.

Tonight looks to be a boring night TV-wise. Guess I'll read while I "watch" TV.

Tomorrow I'll head back in to Newcomb.
