I was sitting on the porch again early this afternoon when the Regular Raccoon poked his head inside the torn screen. He seemed a bit peeved that there was no food waiting for him--but then he was more than a bit early.

I got the food and filled the dishes I keep on the porch--and raccoon went to town.

I also needed to go to town--literally in my case--but the raccoon and who knows how many kinsraccoons had eaten most of the cat chow by the time I got home.

Tomorrow will be another home day for me--a bunch of little stuff that needs doing. Tuesday I have a dr. appt. in N.O. and I really don't want to wait till Wed. to take care of the local stuff.

The big news around here relates to the amount of water coming down the Mississippi.

I mentioned that the Bonne Carre (pronounced bonny carry)spillway had been opened to divert some of the water coming from up north into Lake Pontchartrain. (Later the Morganza spillway was also partially opened, but that brought on some local flooding in its basin. Hard on some of the people, but far far better than a levee giving way close to New Orleans.)

At any rate, the Bonne Carre spillway is being closed up again, since the amount of water coming down from up north is decreasing to something close to "normal" flow.

Let's hope that the huge amounts of water coming down the Mississippi go back to normal and stay there.

And that's in for yet another Incredibly Unremarkable Day.
