I received a birthday card today from a friend from a long time ago.

And I have been trying to remember where and when I knew her. The name is very familiar, as is her husband's name. They live in Rochester, NY.

I've been in Slidell since 1976 (and also '63 - '68) and over the years I've lost track of a lot of people.

So--if you're reading this Carole, please e-mail me.

I rather expect that at some totally inappropriate time my mind will make the connection. The older one gets, the more stuff is stored in the memory, and the longer it takes to sift through. It's not so much that I need a larger memory card, but I need a faster co-processor.

Another hot one today--in the 90s, at least on my front porch. My "computer room" is a lovely place to be--it's got AC.

Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment in New Orleans. I am NOT enthusiastic about a) driving in there and b) finding a parking place within a reasonable hot-day walking distance.

So, today was an essentially unremarkable day. I had some bank business to take care of, and as along as I was out I figured I might as well swing by WalMart for some minor, miscellaneous stuff.

After I got there I was mentally kicking myself for not leaving enough time for a pedicure. The foot talons are getting a bit long.

I did, however, remember to get my sunglasses fixed. The little screw that holds the frame around the lens fell out several weeks ago. I was using bits of a band-aid (only sticky stuff I had with me) to keep the frame pulled together around the lens. The woman there admired my ingenuity, even though getting the bits of band-aid stickum off the lens was a bit of a challenge.

Time to settle down for an evening of low-brow TV.
