Today was Grandparents' Day at YGD's school.

However, my hip/back were bothering me significantly this morning, and I seemed to recall from previous years that GPD involved a fair amount of walking around.

I'm hoping next year will be better.

Tomorrow is (I think) the first election in the series of local/state elections.

We have a lot of elections in Louisiana--in large part because you must win the majority of the vote to win the election. Not just the most votes, but 50% plus one.

So there are the party primaries, then the runoff if none of the (usually many) candidates of each party gets that 50% plus one.

Eventually, it gets to the "finals" when the party "nominees" go against each other.

Thus, I need to "confer" with the daughter who is married to an ADA and find out which people running are well thought of by people outside their immediate families.

After tomorrow's election narrows the field down to one per party there will, of course, be yet another election.

Why is Louisiana different? Because it was established under French (Napoleanic) law, rather than British Common Law.

Weatherwise, it was a gorgeous day. Not cool enough for the furnace to kick on, but not so warm that the furnace fan had to kick on to clear the overly warm firebox--heated by the pilot light.

I'm crossing my fingers that tomorrow will be about the same weatherwise.
