Kitten had a friend sleep over a few nights ago. Both girls are autistic -- they're not dumb, they're not even socially unaware. They have a sense of the definition of society, but from the outside wanting in. That said, each of them, Kitten and BFF, see a slightly different aspect of society.

They're autistic, which means they have much lower a sense of innate guile. From BFF, I hear amplifications of what are around her, around us. The very few ill-formed ideals on this topic she spouts didn't form in a vacuum. As an adult, I hear them and refute them, but I wonder how she came to hold them.

I wonder if she's like the child in "The Emperor's New Clothes."

I wonder if she's saying what many feel, but know better than to say.

I wonder if feeling something and knowing better than to say it is truly better.
