In other news, Mrs The Fyd and I spent an hour and a half yesterday signing documents that grant dominion over our lives and souls and fortunes to a pack of slavering bankers, lawyers, bail bondsmen, judge advocates general, congressional counsellors, and the like.  Should it be proved that we affirmed a gross untruth, thus impugning our sacred honor, I predict our fate will be manifested in a lime-filled pit at the bottom of the garden.
