Attack of the Writing Geek

I've been promising myself I'll return to my writing schedule that was interrupted for the baseball playoffs and National Novel Writing Month seemed as good a way as any. This is actually ideal for me, because revising a draft is actually the fun part of writing for me -- my great problem is producing raw material. (Which is why I've done quite a few revisions of various stories since I graduated but have only finished one rather sketchy new story.) Also, I'm a lot better at being disciplined when I have a goal, and it's been terribly difficult for me to find a goal I can convince myself not to mess with. So now I'm on record as saying I will produce 50,000 words of new material by November 30 -- not particularly easy on a full time job, but at least part of that is a traveling holiday (yay airport! lots of writing time at the airport!) Of course there go all those knitting projects I was halfway through. Screw it, it got warm again this week, I won't need that wool sweater for a while.

Of course, since this is my last "free" day, I should really go do the dishes and clean out the fridge (I told Lala that was how I was scaring myself for Halloween). Oh, but first I have to go renew my membership at WFUV. Now available through Windows Media Player's radio station (on my dial up connection, it plays smoother than if I stream it directly through their website).

50,000 words divided by 30 days is about 1,700 words a day, divided by approximately two hours of writing time a day is about 15 words a minute. I can do that. I think.
