A Word from the Oversight Committee, College Football Division

Why yes, I am at work. No, there isn't anything to do today. It's very hard to do planning for next semester when the person who has to sign off on all the plans is not in the office.

Anyway ....

On Saturday, while watching the saddest excuse for a Big XII championship game I've ever seen (especially since I went shopping during the 2nd and 3rd quarters and thus managed to miss 90% of the actual scoring), it occurred to me that I have unfairly neglected a certain Oklahoma division I school when complaining about the misery of this football season. In other words, the University of Tulsa on Saturday won the Conference USA championship (in their first year as conference members), and will play in the Liberty Bowl on New Year's Day. No word yet on whether they will be remaking the University of Louisville classic, "We In The Liberty Bowl ('L' Yes)," though I'm sure Baby Brother hopes they would. Anyway, congratulations to TU on a fine season and oh, yes -- OU still beat you.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but on further review, OU's season, while lackluster when compared to recent memory, wasn't that bad. The two non-conference losses were to teams that lost a combined 3 games, and they beat the above mentioned Conference USA champion. Of the two conference losses, one team is playing for the national championship, and one obviously bribed the officials before the game (Joke! That was a joke! Sort of.). Now we get to play another OU (although they call themselves UO. Geez, like you have to be all literal with your abbreviations or something) -- the University of Oregon, who are probably ticked off that they went 10-1 and still didn't get a BCS berth. Still, it should be a good game. And I'm sure Married Brother is already planning to wear his radioactive yellow Oregon jersey on Dec. 29 just to annoy me. Those OSU fans gotta get their enjoyment out of bowl season any way they can, you know.
