Picking and Packing

Lala tells me we picked 12 games right in the NFL Pick'Em this week. Lala's brother asks her to play in his league every year. She knows nothing about football, so I'm "helping." Usually I either forget to help or do bad enough on enough weeks that no one's yet caught on. I'm pretty impressed with myself since lots of games last week were toss-ups. This almost guarantees that we will get less than half of the games right this week, though.

I spent an hour and a half in the bathroom last night trying to figure out how to fit my liquid toiletries in a single quart size Ziploc bag. (Hint: old contact lens cases work great for small amounts of hair gel) Normally I would just go ahead and check a bag, but as I'm 1)only going to be home two nights and 2)not actually going to be at home one of those nights I'd rather not even risk the possibility of lost luggage. Plus it will allow us to get to Stillwater 10-20 minutes earlier, given how slow the Tulsa airport is at unloading luggage. Still, this has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever wasted my puzzle solving skills on. Allow me a gallon size bag, for Pete's sake. At least then I'd be able to take my toothpaste and contact solution.

UPDATE:So I wasn't feeling the need to comment on the small plane crash on the Upper East Side today but, the fact Corey Lidle (a Yankee pitcher for you non-sports fans) was the pilot is just too bizarre. Even more bizarre? Carol Higgins Clark, mystery writer and daughter of more famous mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark lives in the building he hit (but wasn't home at the time). New York is a very small place sometimes. Not that this is the best way to be reminded of that.
