Mood:
rain delayed

Some wiseguy on Deadspin intentionally quoted "We Built This City" in order to drive everyone crazy and it worked. Now that it's running through my head on constant loop, I can't believe that I actually know 75% of the lyrics. All of you teenyboppers out there who are so in to '80s stuff need to know that some '80s stuff is not cheesy and cool. Some of it is cheesy and evil. I wonder if this is how my parents felt when disco "came back" a few years ago.

Lala brought me a cupcake today and it was delicious. Chocolate with vanilla frosting.

Rain delays in the World Series suck. Although last night's did allow me to check out 30 Rock which I really, really enjoyed. Even if they did more or less rip one of the plots from a Sex and the City episode. (And now they are apparently moving the show to Thursdays after Scrubs! I guess I'll have to start taping Grey's Anatomy, unless they're going to keep rerunning it on Fridays.) I must confess, I actually enjoyed 30 Rock much more than this week's episode of Studio 60 -- I want to love that show but Sorkin's got to stop with the preaching. I do love Matthew Perry, Sarah Paulson, and Nate Corddry, though, so I guess I'll keep watching until they cancel it or move it opposite something I like better.

Does anyone else think it's time X-Files started running in syndication on a non-cable network again? I realized the other day that it's been a good three years since the last time I saw an old episode. I kind of miss it. Yes, I know that's what DVDs are for. Shut up.

Random things I've been obsessed with this week: Archer Farms Blueberry Tangerine Spring Water (from Target), Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" (the song, not the album -- hence the quotation marks), sportswriters eating their words about the Cardinals getting swept in the Series, and strategies for dealing with whatever World Series game is playing on Saturday while I'm at the Maths Wizard and the Hostess's Halloween Party. I feel like it's okay to do that last one now because there isn't any danger of St. Louis being eliminated by Saturday, and an increasingly likely chance they can't be eliminated on Saturday, so I can't jinx them too badly at this point. You laugh, but go ask the Maths Wizard what happened when he made an addendum to his invitations containing alternate plans should a Mets World Series game conflict with the party.

I'm about to start cleaning up my desk, I am so bored at work right now. Somebody give me something to do!
