What's the best anecdote for the most dispiriting development in what has become the most miserable season to be a Cardinal fan in my lifetime? (Yes, even counting the years in which we were already well out of the playoff race by this point. I can deal with on-the-field suckage. All this questionable substances and freak, career-ending foul balls to the face stuff is just a little much.)

Calling my Dad and listening to him narrate the events of Friday's annual Union-Jenks football game, which was not only possibly the greatest, wildest finish in a long line of unbelievable finishes, but my alma mater, for once, came out on top. Although I couldn't help grumbling a bit about how the local cable company tried to replicate the ESPN 360 experience with four different feeds on as many channels -- I can remember Yoda and I listening to the radio to hear the end of the game our freshman year, because that was the only way to find out what happened if you didn't have tickets. Not to mention that it was next to impossible to get tickets if the game was being played at Jenks' tiny stadium -- now that they've moved the game to TU, pretty much anyone can go as long as they want to deal with the traffic.

Oh, and getting up the next morning to watch my college alma mater trounce Miami wasn't bad either. So nice to have a passing game and a tough secondary again.

Now, if only the Jets could have won. Or at least, not given up the longest kickoff return in the history of the NFL. That would have been nice.
