Saturday Morning (!) Miscellanea

It is 10 am on a Saturday morning and I have been up for an hour already. The rainy weather that settled in Thursday night is washing all the pollen out of the air, with the result that I've had two consecutive nights of solid, uninterrupted sleep. So I, for one, will not be complaining that it looks like the rain will be sticking around for the next week or so.

The new Ladies lineup started this week. I'm switching to Thursday as my regular posting day, though our new Ladies are so gung-ho they want to do group posts on the weekend, so look out for that, too. This weekend, we will be discussing our personal choices for at-bat music, complete with sample YouTube videos, so look out for that post later today.

(Temporarily Unemployed) Radio Brother has a new part-time job that I don't entirely understand, but it pays well, and may involve him working with children, so good for him.

Chuckles made his third attempt at running a marathon last weekend, and his bad luck yet again forced him to stop at about the halfway point. Apparently the "experts" at the running store convinced him to buy shoes with no support in them and at about mile 8 his foot started to hurt. He made it to mile 13 before he finally couldn't go any further. So that's one marathon he couldn't finish because of exhaustion and dehydration (running a race at altitude probably not a great idea for a first marathon), one he couldn't finish because of a freak accident (tripped over a rock and banged up his knee), and one sabotaged by bad shoes. If this was an ESPN story, I'd have to start throwing around the word "curse."

It was a thankfully quiet week at work, though we are about to descend into the madness that is prepping for Hell Week. (Hell Week: my pet name for the period when college faculty from all over the country descend on us to complain about the fact that they're getting a week's vacation in New York City for basically the cost of airfare.) At least this year I do not have to deal with the complete upheaval that resulted into my move into this department. In fact this is the most stable my job situation has been since Old Boss left three years ago. *Resisting the urge to add cliched concluding sentence about "in this economy"*
