Ice Capades

Last night, since all of the girls that work for us at the surf shop are home for Thanksgiving, we decided to have SAFEDOF2 on Ice (Second Annual Female Employee Day Of Fun 2 - The first second annual was this summer).

There were five girls from the shop and Matt. I have not been ice skating in 14 years. That's almost half my friggin life! One of the girls has only been one time, a couple of the girls haven't been in a few years. Needless to say, we were all a little rusty.

So we rented our ugly brown and blue skates (Matt has his own hockey skates and Steph has her own as well) and took to the ice.

We actually didn't do too shabby. We were going to make bets on who would fall the first. Matt said it would be me. He calls me Queen Klutz. It's not too far of a lot of times. I think my equalibrium is off ;-). But the funny thing is I used to be pretty good at ice skating - we used to go once or twice a week when I was in grade school and into high school. Believe it or not, the two sports I was best at were ice skating and skiing - the two you would think I was the worst at.

We spun, we skated backwards, we had our 'big' finishes. Now, I'm not saying I never fell. I think we all fell at least once, except for Matt. I actually fell once pretty good on my knee and that's a little sore, and coming out of a spin I lost my footing and jammed my wrist (yes mom, I'm fine and I'm wearing my brace today) and that really hurts. But other than a couple of blisters from the craptacular rental skates, I'm not sore at all.

I can't wait til the next time we go. We want to start going every couple of weeks. Won't that be fun?

So now, for your viewing pleasure, I present SAFEDOF On Ice
