Daniel and I quite frequently get messages on our answering machine for people who are not-us, but who presumably have very similar phone numbers. One of these people apparently isn't paying their electric bill. This caused some confusion here until we figured out that, yes, the message was for someone else.

[I don't remember whether our answering machine message currently says, "You have reached Daniel Starr and Wendy Shaffer..." or "You have reached XXX-XXX-XXXX..." (where the x's are our phone number), but nevertheless the message does not seem to deter people from leaving messages for people who are clearly not Daniel Starr or Wendy Shaffer. (At one point we were getting so many messages for someone named Arlene that we considered changing our answering message to, "Arlene does not live here. However, if you want to leave a message for Daniel Starr or Wendy Shaffer..." Fortunately, people seem to have clued in.)

Evidence suggests that a great many people go through their lives not really paying attention. I wonder what has us all so preoccupied.

What has me preoccupied is coffee and online Help. Time to go get the one, and then work on the other.
