Guilt By Unanimity

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just an update on the discipline case from yesterday: we reconvened, because one of the teachers could not sleep having given even the lightest penalty to a student she believes is innocent.

So we all voted again, with me abstaining with the reason that I believe the innocence hinges on the testimony of the more guilty student, which was before I arrived.

Now the kicker is that most likely my decision to be on record as not being with their bloc was the fact that they had enough votes among themselves to overturn the decision.

Of course Mr. Stickler to the Rules said that in future cases, would it still be okay to reconvene on the same case after having met and voted already? Technically, as long as we have not yet signed in the recommendation to the dean, it is possible.

But he wanted a specific period, which we set as reviewing the documentation at least a week before.

@@ The students just approached me to answer a survey maybe for their class, for the month in appreciation of educators. There were questions there like for favorite food, books, movies and actors. I gave Michael Crichton for author, and Proof with Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth P. and Jake G. as most liked film, still about science.

@@ Speaking of meetings, we had one for what has been dubbed as the coordinating council for the events of the month of educators, education for responsible voting and environmental month, with a representative from the student council and the three socio-civic organizations, and other officers from other organizations as needed.

There were additional events for next week, a coffee-drinking forum between teachers and students.

The student council also left the calendar open that they can have more activities as conceptualized.

There will be no culmination for environment month as it is supposed to launch year long (and beyond) initiatives.

For the campaign for new voter registration, the 20% completion of the student population who can be part of the 2010 elections will be posted and guilt them out.

Maybe we can even ask for a signature campaign for those who have already registered and be recognized.

And there was need to postpone other activities to another meeting where physical facilities representatives will be present, so that it would be easier to find out what could and could not be implemented.

At least we got the go signal from the NSTP teachers to get their students in.

Session 2805 will strive to post tomorrow. Class dismissed.
