I don't quite know what happened, but the postscript to a largely unplanned, surprisingly fun birthday weekend turned out to be upsetting personal drama. Ugh. Hopefully things will be resolved on this front, at least to some extent, by the end of the weekend.

But, birthday stuff was fun. I spent the day itself, last Friday, home from work, and mostly running around in circles, at least until Pita got out of work. We then met up with my parents and my brother at Versailles, in Encino. It's a very nice Cuban chain, and rhere was a ton of good food that was very cheap.

Saturday, we had been invited to a game day at the apartment of Christa and Alan, two friends we met through Bryce and Julia. We moseyed down to the Manhattan Beach area, had a nice lunch at a Mongolian BBQ place, and headed up to their aparetment. The seven of us played some board games, watched a quick demonstration of Katamari Damancy on the PS2, and dug into the surprise birthday cake our hosts had picked up. We left in the early evening so that Pita could study and the cats wouldn't wreck the apartment for lack of food.

Sunday was quiet, and we spent most of the day in, just relaxing. We went out for dinner with a friend of Pita's whose 21st birthday also happened to be on Friday, and whose mother was in the hospital for some major issues. We took her out, and helped her relax, and bought her her first legal drink. We went to bed at a decent hour to trry and get some sleep.

That's because Monday was our trip to Disneyland. Graciously financed by my father, our trip was the first real chance we'd had to explore the park in a while. We got off to a late start, and we made a short stop at a Halloween store to look for costume stuff, but we got into the park around noon. I loved the new Space Mountain design! It was great fun, and the new ride elements were great. We spent the afternoon and evening in the park, and headed back at a reasonable hour to face work the next morning.
