I put on my red and white shirt, my blue fuzzy scarf, and my Obama jacket. I left the house at 15 minutes before the inauguration singing My Country Tis of Thee. Then I got in the car and Aretha Franklin was singing "my country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty" and I cried. David and I drove through the fog. When Biden took the oath of office, I cried. But then we were at school. Yo Yo Ma was still playing Simple Gifts. I thought maybe I can get in and get out before Obama becomes president. But David's classroom was dark and empty. It took me precious seconds to realize we were all in the Mountain room, all the little children watching this moment in history. David didn't like the change of routine. I said, "Shh, hey, shh, this is Obama, right there on the t.v. See Obama." I held David, and I balled as Obama took the oath of office. Then David sat on my lap for the inaguration speech, and I said amen to it all.

Rose's entire school started 10 minutes early, so they could watch the inauguration. I hope they remember this day for the rest of their lives. I will.
