Did we pick the week-end or what? Everyone in Seattle was complaining bitterly about the bad weather last week-end, and we spent three days in Chelan's perfect sunshine. I'm not an eastern Washington fan, but it was, in fact, not too hot and the brown hills are growing on me. The cloud patterns were unequivocally gorgeous.

Rose and Miriam went on the their first ever river rafting trip with Grandpa Jere and Barb. They loved it all except for maybe the part where Rose was thrown out of the boat and went grinding over rocks. But, she had on a wet suit and life jacket. She survived with one bruise and not too freaked out.

Rose had announced recently that she's not interested in dolls any more. Hold that thought. Barb brought four dolls with a huge wardrobe, and the kids spent hours with the grandparents playing. John and I got to work-out.

The pool at Cambell's, where we stayed, has a large three foot deep swath, so David could play pretty much independently. It was very nice to see Uncle Dan in the pool and me not.

Same thing at Slide Waters, the waterpark up the street. For the first time, they had life jackets for the little kids. Between that, David's height, and his comfort level with getting his face wet, he could go on lots of slides by himself. The girls went on every single slide twice. I had a good time too.

And because we've been going to Cambell's for so many years (we can't decide if it's 5 or 6), we have finally figured out the food. I happily made my kids food and ordered from the take-out menu every night and did not have to suffer through my children in a restaurant.

Rose and David even went to sleep reasonably well. Wow.
