who went: Ruth, Debby, Rose, David, Lisa, Ben

where: Discovery park look trail

distance: 3 miles

We had our first hike of the summer. Granted it was in a city park. There were no old growth trees, the trails were ultra smooth, and we had to cross the road several times. But, it was still lovely. We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and the fact that we can see the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains in the middle of the city is amazing.

The kids had requested a hike to somewhere fun to play. This hike goes to a beach. It was a lovely day and the kids spent an hour playing in the driftwood fort and inspecting dead jellyfish. I'd say this hike length and elevation gain was right in our zone--a stretch, but not too hard.
