School's out, and we've been partying hard. Thursday night a local tutoring center, 826, with a decidedly hip vibe (their storefront pretends to be an outfitter for outer space) threw a dance marathon fundraiser. Our gang of elementary school parents put together a team. Actually, John chose to go to lindy class instead since club music and club dancing is not his thing, but we were a large cheerful group.

I was afraid it was all going to be electronic dance music, but it was mostly standard danceable hits like Love Shack and Jump. There were only around 200 people, and the crowd was friendly and fun. I danced four hours straight and did not win a single prize. Well, dancing with my friends was prize enough, but next year we are going for seriously involved costumes.

Saturday night one of the same families threw a solstice dance and karaoke party. Our team name had been "The Livingroom Dancers" so dancing in the livingroom was totally appropriate. It was such a lovely night with the little kids running around the backyard bashing each other with sticks, I mean playing happily, and the rest of us dancing away.
