A lot of comings and goings this week in the House of Dogs. Some involved Cat. He’s been inside my house more, hanging out with us in the den by the fire, although Cat doesn’t melt down in front of the flickering like I do, mostly because Poodle would eventually walk by and get a whiff and that would be the end of our peaceful evening. I don’t know why Poodle has such a thing for Cat. Anyway, last night Cat came in from the garage and sat on the People’s lap and slept in the People’s arms while the rest of us watched Oprah at the Oscars on TiVo. Poodle had no idea Cat was within reach most of the night. Cat must have loved that. The People let Cat drink out of a saucer filled with milk, something I’ve never seen them do before. Cat lapped and lapped and lapped. Then he sat on the couch and licked his paws and washed his face. So even though I think of my house as the House of Dogs, last night it was the House of Cat. Once in a while, I’m okay with that. Poodle doesn’t need to know. |
