Ft. Lauderdale Nights

Went back to Ft. Lauderdale last night, to do SFSFS stuff.

Since the temperature was down to the very low 60's, there was an actual fire burning in the hosts' fireplace. (Hey, it's south Florida, people were cold.) Better yet, for a while last night I got to sit around by said fire and go on about Clarion to some of the young writers, much like an old man going on about The War. Good stuff.

(OK, the kids were technically older than I am, but hey, *they* haven't been to Clarion yet.)

Naturally, I glossed right over all the incessant drinking and hanging out and went straight to the hard work and elbow grease. Can't let the kids get the wrong idea about these things.

For the first time in a while, I actually sort of feel like checking out some of those "on writing" books, at least so I actually have a writing-related task to do while I seem to be incapable of actual writing. (Not a word since Wednesday, though I did do revisions on "Five Against the Darkness.") Anyone know any good ones?

(Extra credit points for recommendations that don't inlude the words "Samuel" and "Delany.")
