2005-01-15 6:06 PM Picking up an 'Old Friend' Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (0) |
Today I picked up an old friend and together we wandered off into the depths of my imagination.
I played my flute. I haven't done that since high school. I mean I've picked it up and doodled with it, but never actually "played" it. Today I did, and it felt good. Everything around me faded away, my cats, my job, my family, my life....it just all went away for about 2 hours. I played until my hands were sore. I recently picked up an easy score piano accompaniment with a CD for the Lord of the Rings. It wasn't all the songs, but a few and it was fantastic. I popped the CD and played with it. It was like I was playing with an entire orchestra and I was the most important person in the world because I was playing the melody, the main part of the piece. :D I can actually say that I sounded pretty good. I still have it! It actually has got me thinking about possibly joining the orchestra at Pierce. I think that would be lovely. The only problem is that it means more time will be taken away, but I think this would be completely worth it. My music could have a purpose again. The thing of it is, I have missed the band when I left high school. Musicians are such interesting people and music is such an interesting study. These are just impulses talking, but perhaps if I find myself really wanting to do this, it will all work out. :D Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
