2006-01-09 9:36 PM Me day... Mood: Tranquil Read/Post Comments (0) |
Long has it been since I have been able to enjoy a day all by myself. Today, it was all for me. No one else existed, but me. (Call it selfish if you will, but sometimes one needs a day like that.)
I got up this morning (with a wake up call from Berek) around 9. From there, I took a shower and figured out what it was that I wanted to do. There were a few options that were squirming around in my brain. I finished the 5th Harry Potter book last night, so the thought of taking the 6th book and heading to either the beach or the park was a nice thought. I also had thought about taking a dip in the pool if the weather would permit (too cold though). And then it hit me, I should take care of a few things for school. So I wanted to go and check out my books for next semester, but alas, they were not there yet. (Poo! I would've preferred not to start the day on a negative note, but hey...that's life.) In any case, I went to the office to check out a couple of things and then I went online and checked out FAFSA. I would like some help paying for school. :) Luckily, the deadline is in March, so I've got time to get my taxes for this year in order (oh where's my W2?!). Then after I left campus, I thought to myself, "Where do I want to go next?" BORDERS! Woot! So I headed there and spent a good hour just perusing the book binders in a special section (not willing to post publicly). I found that after sipping from a diet soda (yech) I really hate the taste of them. So I decided I was going to stick to water as I couldn't finish my Diet Coke. Then I went home and made dinner around 1p.m. Yes that's right. Mid-afternoon. Who the hell wants to stick around the house in the late afternoon when the day is going so well? :) So I made a meatloaf from this great huge Diabetic's Cookbook (Thanks dad!). It only took an hour and a half, plus prep time. (In retrospect, it's a great recipe if anyone is interested diabetic or not.) While it was baking, I went on a research binge on Wicca. Since I was a kid, I was always fascinated with Wicca. It was forbidden for me then because "my parents probably wouldn't understand" and there was also an aspect of fear that I carried from my born-in religion. Berek is absolutely fine with me practicing Wicca if I so choose. (I hope no one else is offended or sees me differently if I do decide to practice Wicca, if you do, let me know and I won't post publicly anything further about my delving into it.) So I've been doing a lot of online and book research and I've begun my journey through The Craft. Today I picked up various things for my altar. I got candles, a couple of bowls, a couple of chalices, some dark blue-violet velvet to cover the altar and a working cover made of lavender chinese silk. (Without even knowing it, today's color was lavender according to the Witches' Almanac/Datebook I got.) I have yet to consecrate the altar and my tools because I need one more thing and I have to plan it just right with the phases of the moon. I'm really excited about all of this. :) In other news, Naboo drank evaporated milk today when I left it out accidentally after preparing the meatloaf. *sigh* He later threw it up 3 times after his 10p.m. snack. More developments as they come. It was my fault...I should've paid more attention. He's doing fine though. My guess is the milk curdled in his stomach and he had to upchuck it. It's kind of like what happens when you drink milk and then eat citrus. Eww...can't say that I blame him. Poor baby. And that concludes this portion of "It's my life" news. Signing off...
