2006-03-04 2:59 PM Reception Sites... Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (0) |
So yesterday, Berek and I had the day off to look at some potential reception sites. I set up a couple of appointments. Due to some places not e-mailing or calling me back, we only had 2 places to go to. Middle Ranch Lodge and Pickwick Gardens.
Middle Ranch was very nice (although there was a river rushing through the driveway. It was a little disconcerting, but the rest of the tour and discussion about weddings and receptions went very well. It's going to be an expensive endeavor, but none-the-less it could be worth it. They apparently take care of a good chunk of stuff such as the catering and set-up. They even have a really good contingency plan in the event of rain. I like the indoor location as well as the outdoor. It's very picturesque outside, but it's very comfortable and intimate inside. Pickwick Gardens wasn't exactly how I pictured it. Especially since instead of being nestled in the mountains like Middle Ranch, it's nestled between an ice rink and bowling alley. Not exactly picturesque. I mean the gardens were very nice, but apparently you can only have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception. Bleh. The hall was okay, but it wasn't as comfy and intimate as the other place (mostly because Middle Ranch was almost like a ranch house inside) I guess the best way to describe Middle Ranch's interior was like that of inside the Grand Californian Hotel lobby (only not as humongous). I'm not going to toss out the idea of Pickwick just yet, but I don't think I can see myself getting married there. After we toured those two places, Berek and I decided to wander over to the shopping center where the Great Indoors was in Burbank. We ate at the Olive Garden (which was awesome because they had stuff we could both eat, including a dessert :D), then we headed to Aaron Bros. and Target to wander a bit. Berek started feeling kind of sick and his feet were hurting so we headed home where we relaxed a bit and did whatever. Today, he's still not feeling that well, but we're making the best of our day.
