2007-01-18 9:52 AM Snow what! Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (0) |
Apparently, Malibu got some snow yesterday. That was pretty cool! I wished that I could've seen it before it all melted. This hasn't happened there in 27 years! How cool is that?
In other news, well finally things are settling down a bit. My grandpa is alive and doing as well as can be expected. It is assumed that he had a mini-stroke and he's slowly recovering from that. He is currently residing in a new home. It is a hospice care facility, but nothing like the ones we all know and despise. It's in Northridge and it's actually a house. A real house with some other elderly people and a couple of live in nurses. It's kind of like a group home for the elderly. He seems happy there though. He gets to be out in the sun and he is with other women (which he apparently likes). That's right, my grandpa can get his groove on! ;) (Eww...) So that's good. I've been doing rather well as of late. Up until last night and the night before, I've been getting great sleep! I've been working some magic and it seems to be helping. Last night and the night before had some strange circumstances. Last night Berek retired late and because I was taking up his side of the bed he woke me up to have me scoot over. This was fine. I wouldn't have expected him to do any different. However, after that I hardly caught a wink. *sigh* Part of it I suspect was that I was rather comfortable having Naboo lying right next to me and Hal sleeping at my feet. The other part was because I was in my REM sleep. It's hard to get back into that when you have to be up in less than 4 hours. Ah well. The night before was rather funny because Berek came to bed after I did and when he did he started snoring so loudly it woke me right up out of my nice warm dream sleep! *sigh* Ah well...then to make matters worse...he started moaning! Yeesh! Like I said, it was actually rather funny. I've also just been feeling good. Which is really nice. I mean it's not just physically either. It's emotionally and spiritually as well. :) I am feeling rather complete and I'm really not sweating the small stuff. :) This is indeed a nice change for me. Naboo is doing great! It's been over a month since he fell ill and now he's actually doing better than before. He still throws up every now and again if he gets too much food or if he gets too active after eating. But he's actually more active than I've ever seen him before! He's now a 9-year old kitty and he's doing fantastic. He plays more now than he ever has since he was a kitten. He plays with my toes underneath the blankets, he loves this laser pointer that Berek's dad got from the Smithsonian and he is digging his homemade catnip sock! This cat is outta control! :) I love watching him play though. Halloween is as crazy as ever. He's found a new obsession though. It's gone further than just the bath tub, the toilet or water. It's Ben and Ben's room. This cat is absolutely obsessed with Ben and his room. When he wakes up, that's where he goes and he waits and meows. Sometimes he even scratches at the door (at 5 am!). As soon as you walk through the door, he runs to you and then leads the way to Ben's room and meows. (The door is always shut because Ben keeps his room...in a certain way.) When Ben comes home, he runs straight for Ben's room. Ben often has to get Hal chasing the laser pointer in the opposite direction and then runs for the door before Hal even realizes what's going on. It's insane. Ben lets him into his room every now and again, but it just isn't enough. Apparently, Ben has the best (unobstructed) view of the street and the outside world. (There's no balcony in the way.) So that's one reason. The only other thing I can think of as to why he loves that room is because it's in the same position as our old bedroom was in the other apartment and he just thinks that that's our room...but there's Ben. He loves Ben a lot. It's very cute actually. Berek is doing well. He's finally recovering from this nasty flu bug that he had for nearly a week and a half. I helped a lot by making sure that he downed a lot of tea and fluids I think. Plus, I was very vigilant and made sure he was taking his medication. Now I think he's got a groove going. :) Plus, he's getting back into the swing of things at work and I think things are settling enough for him to get through his grandmother's death. I know it still hurts and it is likely to still hurt for years to come. (Particularly, when the wedding rolls around.) But, he's doing as good as can be expected. :) School is going to start in a couple of weeks. I've got some mixed feelings about this because I've been enjoying having free time and time to do what I want. You know like drawing, reading for pleasure, exploring my spirituality, running a D&D campaign, and playing video games. I've been immersing myself in all of these things. I've drawn a couple of really awesome pictures of the characters I've been reading about in the Forgotten Realms: Drizzt novels. :) I've also been putting together a D&D campaign that I'm going to DM. Right now though, I'm doing some practicing with Berek. I might run the game tonight. This is very exciting for me. :) It's a pre-made game, just to help give me an idea of what I need to prepare for and things to have handy. :) It's going to be cool! (Plus, I'm hoping to inspire my significant other to run a game. :D) I'm also really into this game called Neverwinter Nights. :) I stopped for a few days, but now I'm back into it. It's an RPG and I'm digging it mostly. I've taken a break from FF12 so that I can experience some other stuff. Lastly, I've been working rituals and doing research with my craft. This excites me and makes me feel very complete. Like I said, overall things are going well! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
