2007-03-28 11:18 AM Food... Mood: Enjoying my lunch... Read/Post Comments (0) |
Something I have been trying recently is actually concentrating on the tastes, smells and textures of my food without looking at it. It's amazing! I would've never thought that I was missing anything while I was eating if I didn't happen to read an article on the senses and food. It is clinically proven that if we enjoy our food while we eat it, we're less likely to overeat.
So, I thought I'd give it a try. It actually seems to work. I feel full, but mentally I'm satisfied. That is the basis of this research that I read. Apparently, because our society is "fast" paced, it's overlooking the value of just sitting and enjoying food. Hence fast food. Thus, our minds aren't satisfied and then we continue to look for other foods to 'snack' on, even though our stomachs are full. I read another article that defined one of the ways that our minds and bodies are connected. The example was stress. When the mind is stressed out the body follows suit. We feel fatigued and often we are more suseptible to disease. When the body isn't doing well, our mind will follow suit and we'll become depressed. Some of this may seem like common sense, so why is it that we don't take this common sense and utilize it in our society? I just thought it was interesting. In any case, on the first article I read, it seems to be working. I'm not even halfway through my lunch right now, but I'm beginning to feel full and satiated. I may just save the rest of my lunch for later! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
