Bad tourism news, and a motivation request

Sigh. Bad news for Europeans flying to - or even over! - the US (and potentially bad news for Americans flying to Europe, too, if the EU gets mad enough at this new initiative to really develop a backbone, as pointed out at the end of the article). I like the fact we don't need to get visas to go back and forth between the US and Western Europe. I also like having some remnants of privacy left even when I travel. It looks like we're all going to lose one or another of those privileges. Since Patrick (a European) and I travel to the US regularly, and I (an American) like traveling around Europe, I find this really sad. And it's probably also time for me to get moving on my application for joint American-British citizenship...

In other news, I'm having a horribly unmotivated day. Must get down to work! Now! Or, at least, soon! Right now I'm trying to think of a treat big enough to motivate me to get up from the couch. The thing that makes it so hard is that not only do I have a good book to read (Princesses, by Flora Fraser), but the gas fire is blazing and Maya is lying snoring on top of my legs. It would be so comfortable to just stay...

How do you guys motivate yourselves to get down to work when you're at home and comfortable? Do you bribe yourselves with treats? Do you use self-blackmail? What works for you?
